Fall 2017

Anton and I celebrated our one year anniversary in a location we had both never been; Jackson, Wyoming.  We enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and trying all the best food locations.

Summer 2017

I completed my first five day backpacking trip in the Wind River Mountains (without Peruvian porters cooking for you and setting up camp that is) which included glacading and crossing a river with a high line.

Spring 2017

I turned in my last Graduate Research assignment to complete my Masters.  It wasn’t always easy taking online courses and doing research in my own classroom while teaching but it was also very rewarding to apply my learning directly to my instruction.

Winter 2016

In December (after 3 months of marriage) Anton and I traveled to Cusco, Peru for our honeymoon. We crossed a huge item off of the bucket list by hiking Machu Picchu. We thought the mountains in Wyoming and Montana were incomparable before we went but the mountains in Peru had us swooning.

Fall 2016

The big day is finally here! Anton and I had the wedding of our dreams in Red Lodge, MT surrounded by family and friends.  We will never forget having to move our ceremony inside midway through due to rain and slight hail. Cheers to the new Schabauer family!

Summer 2016

We got a puppy! My husband named him Walle and he keeps us very busy while providing endless entertainment and smiles.

Spring 2016

My best friend from college invited me to a part of her wedding day in El Salvador.  Anton (my fiancee) and I traveled for one week to join her in celebrating her marriage.  I swam in the ocean for the first time, met her husband for the first time not over Skype, and practiced my Spanish with his family and friends. Everyone was so welcoming and we had the time of our lives.  If her husband can come to the U.S. we will celebrate again in August!

Summer 2015

After getting engaged we traveled thousands of miles in the car to explore Flaming Gorge, Zion, the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, and Moab.  We challenged ourselves with a few difficult hikes and enjoyed camping and singing in the car.

Anton took me back to the Ranch where we met on church retreat and proposed! We’re getting married!

Summer 2014

In July and August I was able to get into my very own classroom to start preparing for students.  The excitement is building for my first year of teaching.

In July I ran my first half marathon while visiting my older sister and her husband in Missoula,MT.  Was I ever a runner before? No! My mentor teacher and the desire to work towards another goal besides applying for a first job motivated me to start training.  This one most definitely won’t be my last.

Spring 2014

I was blessed to find out about receiving a teaching position in Wyoming on my last day of student teaching in Denver.  A few weeks later I graduated from the University of Wyoming with my parents and favorite people by my side.

Summer 2013

I had the learning experience of a lifetime living with a host family in Chile and taking Spanish classes.  I loved exploring this beautiful country and experiencing the classroom from the perspective of a language learner.  The things I learned in this month will definitely carry into my future career.
